controlling LEDs in BOP (Bride of Pinbot) helmet

soldered driver PCB

PIC-based replacement board for the original A-14007 Chase Light PCB. This board enables the flicker- and flash-free operation of LEDs in the helmet. It offers the possibility to select the fading in three stages and comes absolutely close to the fading of the original bulbs. (The selection is made via two DIP switches on the board).

The board also provides its own power supply for the helmet LEDs. This makes it possible to freely adjust the brightness of the LEDs via the 'LED volage adj.' potentiometer.

In addition to brightness control an optional fading of the LEDs can be configured via the DIP switch on the board.

OFF OFF default fading
 ON OFF more fading
 OFF ON less fading
 ON ON no fading

The original power '1pin' line need to be disconnected.
add a new wire from the PCB ( connect to one of the 'LED voltage' pins on the upper right of PCB)

and plug it into the lower male connector

The needed Molex connector can be ordered at Mouser here or at a german shop here

The PIC need to be programmed -> Digikey Part PIC18F25K42-I/SP-ND

For programming I do recommend using a PICKIT3 or my DIY PIC programmer.
