Gottlieb system1 conversion kits

I got an asking of a pinhead here in Germany if my GottFA1 do work with system1 conversion kits. In specific he had two games: 'Sky Warrior' and 'Jungle Queen' which he wants to bring back to live. As I'm always interested in new challenges I agreed to have a look.

All components ( CPU, power supply, driverboard, soundboard ) in both games looked like standard system1 components. With the only difference that they used a small adapter for Z23 ( 1Kx4bit 6531 prom ) on the CPU to be able to use a  more 'modern' rom variant ( 2732 in this case ). This prom do hold the game specific rules.

Sky Warrior

According to IPDB Sky Warrior is a conversion kit of I.D.I. a former italian company.

The mapping provided by the adapter was an easy one. It just maps the address & data lines 1:1 between the original 6532 and the 2732 rom. I was able to read the 2732 rom and by comparing it to existing Gottlieb System1 roms it turned out that it is identical to Pinball Pool rom.

Jungle Queen

According to IPDB Jungle Queen is a conversion kit of Pinball Shop a former italian company.

The mapping provided by the adapter is a tricky one. Because of the small size of the adapter they did not an 1:1 mapping but a mapping according to the needs of the PCB routing. As a result the rom content red from the 2732 needed to be converted to the '6531 format'.

Comparing the converted image did not show a match to existing system1 roms, but a short 'on the desk' test with my GottFA1 showed that the image do run correctly. A test in the game however is outstanding, keep tuned!
